Bule Bash!

My sister, Lizzie, my best friend from high school, Danielle, and her friend Dyllin recently came to visit me in Indonesia. I spared them by not teaching them the word for "foreigner!", because it was yelled at us multiple times, but ladies, "bule" means foreigner. And I'm sure that we were called it. A lot! Hence, the Bule Bash 2016!

Here are some highlights from the trip!

Eating MSCS teachers' favorite snacks, gorengan and bakso.

Monument Tugu Pahlawan

Mr. Daniel and Intan met up with us at the museum. Oh yeah, and there is Vallen!

Sister pic!

Danielle on a boat in the Mangrove Forest.

We went to Manado with my friend Meyta!

And in Manado, there is so much pork! <3 In Java, there is rarely pork as most people are Muslim.

Funky breakfast from a leaf!

Pig head in Meyta's kitchen.

Stroll to see a volcano

The crater

So much new food in Manado...I tried a bite of dog. It was not great.

We went snorkeling for a day which was probably one of the best things I've ever done here. Then we all got horribly burned, but the bungalow owner picked us fresh aloe vera from the nearby forest.

We road back to the boat in this.

Bunaken Island

There are only a few villages on the island, and here was their one church.

Flying Jesus! Aka "Jesus blesses Manado Monument"

We went to the Northern Sulawesi history museum and were greeted by live musicians!

The beautiful sky the morning of our hike.

Super bright out, hence the Prathers' strange faces! Hiking day

Hiking in the jungle!
Sushi day (and lunch beer, not a good idea if you were already tired!)

Visiting Rois's family in the village

Sleeping Buddha is a must.

Vallen and "the girls" at Mt. Bromo 6 days before it erupted

This is the view down into the crater when we were there on April 3. It erupted on April 6.
